What will be the plot of Thor 3?

With the lackluster Thor: The Dark World finally out on DVD, Thor fans can start looking ahead to what challenges the God of Thunder will have to face in his next self titled movie.  Christ Hemsworth has already said he wants Thor 3 to feature his character as more of a powerhouse, so that means we are probably going to see Thor go up against even bigger and badder enemies than frost giants and dark elves.  What The Dark World so sorely lacked was emotion and a sense of seriousness.  The only heart wrenching part of the film is when his mother dies, other than that, the movie is a series of predictable Loki plot twists and reliable saving the girl techniques.  Joss Whedon has said Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to be pretty dark, so Thor 3 will hopefully take on that tone since it will be a post AOU movie.  With Odin missing it is not too far off to guess that Ragnarok, the end of the world, might soon be approaching.  It would be nice to see an “End of the World” scenario where Thor and his allies have to risk all to save everything that ever was.  So obviously Surtur seems to be a good choice for the big villain here.  Ladies (and men) can get their fill of Tom Hiddleston, as I’m sure Loki has a stake in keeping the universe intact.  And if the movie is long enough (it better be if it’s about the world ending) we might even be treated to Thor getting help from an unlikely source.

BETA RAY BILL!  Am I biased? Yes. Beta Ray Bill is so badass his initials literally tell you he doesn’t have time for you.  Is it a stretch? I don’t think so.  The movie could easily start off with Beta Ray Bill’s flight from the forces of Surtur, and crash landing on Earth.  Marvel movies need to take a step away from single title movies past 2 or 3.  It’s obviously worked as of now, but Marvel single movies now seem like they are just bridging space between Avengers movies.  Instead of calling the movie “Thor 3: Generic Threatening Title”, they should call it “Ragnarok” or some other title from a comic storyline.  Thor would headline it still obviously, but there would be wiggle room to include other characters from other films.  Obviously Marvel and Disney don’t care, because they’ll be raking in the bajillions of dollars no matter what, but it’s an idea to think about.  I have better odds of getting a Booster Gold movie in my lifetime.  But a boy can dream.  I’m expecting big things from “Thor 3: Generic Threatening Title”, but I hope it’s not just LETS PUT HIM AGAINST THE ENCHANTRESS AND WE’LL CONNECT ANOTHER INFINITY GEM TEE HEE HEE. C’mon Marvel/Disney, don’t be that guy.
